  3. planet thought to be orbiting the Sun between
  4. Mars and Jupiter, a region now known to be
  5. occupied by types of asteroid. Although they
  6. did not discover the first asteroid (found
  7. 1801), they discovered the second, Pallas
  8. (1802), third, Juno (1804), and fourth, Vesta
  9. (1807). The first asteroid was actually
  10. discovered by the Italian Giuseppe Piazzi at
  11. the Palermo Observatory, Sicily, 1 Jan 1801.
